Four new generators from Atlas Copco

2003-02-06

Atlas Copco has launched four new generating sets with prime ratings from 150-300 kVA at 50Hz; the sets all powered by Volvo diesel engines fully complement the existing QAS range of units.

Atlas Copco has introduced four new QAS generating sets with continuous prime ratings at 1500 r/min of between 150 kVA – 300 kVA at 50Hz optional with dual frequency; complementing the range rated at 13kVA – 366kVA. Designated the QAS 150, QAS 200, QAS 250 and QAS 300, these new generating sets are all powered by Volvo Penta four-stroke six-cylinder diesel engines with direct injection, turbocharged and intercooled. The four new sets are standby rated between 165 kVA – 330 kVA.

Atlas Copco QAS generating sets are renowned for their low noise operation. A foam lined canopy gives exceptional noise reduction and fully complies with European regulations (OND 2000/14 EC). The maximum sound power level is as low as 98 dB(A).

The four new top-of-the-range high performance Atlas Copco sets feature low exhaust emission in line with all other QAS models and the latest international emission regulations. All four units are fully TA Luft compliant.

Equipped with MECC-ALTE synchronous brushless type alternators, the new Atlas Copco sets offer minimal wear, a choice of voltages and quick response to any sudden load change.

All major components on Atlas Copco QAS generating sets have flexible mountings to keep transmitted vibration to a minimum. The sets are designed to withstand the toughest on-site conditions and are suitable for the most arduous of applications.

Easy Handling

QAS generating sets are extremely well balanced and can be easily lifted by crane. Two forklift slots are also incorporated in the base frame, and these can be accessed from either side of the set.

Key operating functions can be supervised without opening the canopy. A tough transparent shield that provides protection from humidity and the environment, covers a comprehensive instrument panel. If the set is automatically shutdown in an emergency, the fault clearly shows up on the instrument panel.

Designed for safety
Each unit is fitted with a 3-pole + N circuit breaker and an earth leakage relay. An automatic main circuit breaker offers protection against overload and short circuits. A recessed emergency stop button is easily accessible.
