Hütte introduces new Hütte HBR202E self-contained hydraulic crawler drill

2013-06-13

Hütte Bohrtechnik has introduced a self-contained, fully hydraulic crawler drill rig model. Similar in size to its HBR 203 model, the Hütte HBR 202 comes with an onboard electric or diesel motor, without need for a separate power supply.

Hütte Bohrtechnik introduced a self-contained, fully hydraulic crawler drill rig model at Bauma 2013 in Munich. Atlas Copco CMT USA is the exclusive dealer for Hütte rental and sales in the U.S.

Scot Simon, foundation drill specialist for Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique USA, the exclusive dealer for Hütte rental and sales in the U.S., said his company has already purchased the HBR 202 to add to its extensive rental fleet of Hütte machines, which already include the 203, 502, 504FTW, 605, 609 and 205 Hütte models.

Although the 202 shares the same undercarriage and telescoping mast as the 203, that is where the similarities end. The new HBR 202 features unique kinematics resulting from an upper structure that rotates 140 degrees left and right and extends fore and aft 350 mm.

Another addition is a new 3-speed Hütte HG28 low profile rotary head that provides 21,000 ft-lbs of torque with a clearance to the front face of less than 12 inches. To top it off, the 202 is radio remote controlled to allow better and safer operation in confined spaces.

The HBR line has a wide application range that includes micropiling, anchor drilling, ramming, overburden and rock drilling, auguring, coring, exploration drilling, geothermal drilling and injection drilling.

The electric version of the HBR 202 is powered by an electric 74 hp (55 kW) motor requiring a 440/480 volt 60 Hertz three-phase power source. A diesel version of the 202 equipped with a 100 hp (74.5 kW) diesel engine will follow later this spring.
The telescopic drill mast provides a feed length from 4 to 8 feet with a feed force of 8,500 lbs (38 kN) and pullback of 14,000 lbs (62 kN). All drill movements from tramming to mast positioning are “softly” controlled, Simon said, through a 32 gpm load sensing piston pump.
