Atlas Copco Adds Water-Injected VSD Compressors to Oil-Free Line


AQ line is ideal for applications in sensitive environments

Atlas Copco Compressors has added to its reliable, industry-leading oil-free line with the development of the water-injected AQ 15-30 variable speed drive (VSD) air compressor, ideal for applications in sensitive environments, the AQ range offers substantial energy savings and high operational efficiency.
The AQ 15-30 VSD product range delivers ISO 8573-1 Class 0 certified clean, oil-free air for industries that require sensitive applications specific to medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and electronics manufacturing.

The introduction of Atlas Copco’s exclusive VSD technology can provide additional energy savings of approximately 35 percent by automatically adjusting compressor output to meet air demands and optimize system output. The AQ 15-30 (20, 25, 30 & 40 HP) range features four models, including both air-cooled and water-cooled versions.

The AQ’s superior cooling capability removes heat from the source, reducing the compressor components’ stress levels while extending the life of the machine. The screw compression process is amplified due to high-quality polymer ceramic rotors and element bearings that actually slide on water, providing smooth rotation that extends compressor life. The inclusion of the Full Feature refrigerated dryer concept also eliminates pressure drops, the need for an external dryer and it helps avoid air leaks that can be caused by multiple connections. And with the Elektonikon® controller and advanced connectivity available through AirConnect, the compressor’s performance can be monitored from anywhere, 24/7.
In addition to energy savings, the AQ 15-30 also operates much quieter. Many of the units register dB(A) levels in the 60s – quieter than a conventional residential vacuum cleaner – making it a seamless addition to the shop floor.
