Atlas Copco USA - Project Search Interns
The inaugural group of Project SEARCH interns from Garland ISD conclude their internships, on Friday, May 30th. This partnership has been a success for all of those involved and would not have been so without having seven young adults eager to learn job skills and perform work duties; along with a dedicated group of Atlas Copco employees that mentored the students and put the intern rotation together. We are proud to say that all seven interns have found full-time, permanent employment in the Garland community.

In August, Drilling Solutions welcomes nine new Project Search interns that will be just as eager to get to work.  Project Search began in 1996 as a partnership between Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and its local disability services organizations to fill entry-level positions. The program has now grown to include more than 200 businesses across 40 states and four countries, breaking into Texas just this year.

Project Search helps students transition to life after school by providing a real work environment coupled with instruction from a GISD teacher and job coach. Internships include engineering, construction, inventory and administrative responsibilities. Though they may not pursue a career in manufacturing, students will learn skills that can easily transfer.
