Grand opening of Atlas Copco’s store in Elko

2008-06-04

Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique USA has completed the $2 million upgrade of its store in Elko, Nevada. The grand opening was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11am on Wednesday June 4th, attended by the mayor of Elko Mr Mike Franzoia, the Chief of Police Mr Mike Smith, representatives from Atlas Copco’s management team and several key customers, followed by a VIP luncheon and later an open house and BBQ for all customers.

Compared to last year, Atlas Copco’s Elko store now has approximately 30% more parts in inventory to give a better support to its customers, predominantly in the mining and construction sectors where prompt parts supply is crucial. A full service weld shop for line boring, welding and fabrication has been added, and new purpose-built offices have been constructed. During the past few months the store has seen the addition of 10 extra employees and the integration of Atlas Copco’s geotechnical drilling and engineering division into the business.

“We are now in a position to provide a better response to our customers and to solve their problems more quickly, and we have a wider product range to offer, all with the ultimate goal of increasing our customers’ productivity,” said Jess Kindler, Manager of the Intermountain Region for Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique.

The store in Elko is the largest of Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique’s 15 stores across the USA which are responsible for the sales, service and aftermarket support of equipment for surface and underground rock excavation, exploration drilling, rock reinforcement, ground engineering, water well, oil and gas drilling. The company is headquartered in Denver, Colorado and employs over 300 people across the country, of which approximately 38 work for the Elko store, focusing predominantly on underground mining and surface consumables in the Nevada, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Washington and Wyoming region.
