Atlas Copco Increases Presence at 2011 WEFTEC

2011-10-16

Atlas Copco will showcase its ZS and ZS+ range of low pressure screw blowers at the 2011 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), the wastewater industry’s flagship tradeshow. This year, WEFTEC will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 15-19, 2011. Atlas Copco support staff will conduct product demonstrations of their industry leading low-pressure screw blowers, including the ZS75+ and ZS18, at booth No. 4400 in the front row of the West Hall.

Atlas Copco’s energy-efficient ZS screw blower range for aeration applications has proven to be on average 30 percent more energy efficient than conventional blower technology. The introduction of the ZS range, which utilizes internal compression instead of external compression, sets a new standard for energy-efficiency in the industry.
“We look forward to WEFTEC each year because it’s the premier show for the Wastewater industry and the perfect place to showcase innovative products and solutions” said John Conover, business development manager for the Atlas Copco range of low pressure solutions. “This is a great opportunity for us to show how wastewater treatment plants can benefit from the energy savings we see our customers achieve with our leading-edge screw blower technology.”
In the wastewater industry, millions of bacteria feed on organic waste, breaking it up into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water. Because the bacteria need oxygen, large quantities of air are blown in the aeration tanks. Municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants typically see 70 percent of their total electricity costs dedicated to air blower use. Switching to Atlas Copco low pressure blowers has been shown to reduce these costs by an average of 30 percent.
In addition to wastewater treatment, other industries and applications that can benefit from energy savings provided by blowers utilizing screw technology include pneumatic conveying, power generation, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pulp and paper, textiles, cement, and general manufacturing.
