Eight Atlas Copco hydraulic attachments on a major demolition site in Rutesheim

2010-04-21

A total of eight Atlas Copco hydraulic attachments are used by FWA Fischer Weilheim Abbruch (FWA) for demolishing the former company site of the Drescher printing works in Rutesheim. Now that the Rutesheim approach to the A8 freeway is completed, the site has become an attractive housing and commercial area that will be completely cleaned up and redeveloped this year.

Two administration buildings and seven solid workshops built in the fifties, representing an overall volume of 150,000 cubic meters, have to be demolished in the first phase. FWA are using eight Atlas Copco attachments for this particular job. Among them the new hydraulic CombiCutter CC 6000 U, which Atlas Copco introduces on the occasion of the 2010 Bauma fair.

Even before the official introduction on the market, Joachim Schmid, FWA’s technical director, is fully convinced of the CC 6000 U: „The1400 mm jaw width is quite exceptional for this size of cutter. Power and quality of the cutter are typically Atlas Copco. We bought the CC 6000 and are looking forward to being the forerunner on the market.“

In Rutesheim the CC 6000 U mainly has to tackle reinforced concrete structures which – after being demolished – need to be recycled and with their volume of some 38,000 metric tons will be used to backfill trenches and as bedding material for the roads of the housing and commercial area to be developed on the site.
